Description
Newspaper clippings, copied excerpts from articles and typed and hand-written notes relating to Richard Pearse. Unknown authors. Possibly Geoff Rodliffe and/or George Bolt as contributors. A few examples of ephemera relating to Pearse or more broadly aviation. Also includes minutes from the 15th April 1980 meeting of the New Zealand Division of the Royal Aeronautical Society where the Division discussed Graham Bell's Richard Pearse Paper claiming the Pearse achieved powered flight on 31 March 1902 but that he did not complete directional control. This paper was supported by research from a Mr. Coleridge and Mr. Andrews. There are also three copies of signed testaments relating to Richard Pearse's flight by Florence Higgins (nee Pearse) Daniel Connell and Ethel Bourn. Finally, there is programme for recording a piece about Richard Pearse's flight in 'Town and around' (1969).
