Description
Digital photographic JPEG file, original file name Workshop 007. Image shows the application of a ‘Tungsten Carbide’ wear coating to a wire drawing block by ABB IRB6 robot at Aerospace Thermal Coatings Ltd. The coating is being applied by a ‘High Velocity Oxygen Fuel’ (HVOF) process. This particular equipment gains it’s heat energy by burning a mixture of kerosene and oxygen. The hard ‘Tungsten Carbide’ coating is then ground to dimension in a cylindrical grinder, using a diamond grinding wheel, then polished to a mirror finish using the ‘supafina’ process.
