Description

Digital photographic JPEG file, original file name DSCF0078. Image shows the application of an ‘Aluminium Polyester’ abradable coating to the internal surfaces of the compressor case, from a Rolls Royce M250, Model 20R, turbine engine. Application operated by ABB IRB6 robot at Aerospace Thermal Coatings Ltd also shown in videos WAV-2017-25.1. The coating is being applied using an internal ‘Air Plasma Spray’ torch. The internal ‘blade tip paths’ are then machined to the required dimensions and profiles in a CNC lathe.
