Brief History
Canon’s Powershot A460 was an inexpensive digital camera aimed at the amateur user with fairly basic specifications. Its 5 megapixels and 2-inch LCD screen for image review improved on the 4 megapixels and 1.8-inch LCD screen of the previous year’s model, the Powershot A430. The camera also featured a 4x optical zoom, Super Macro setting and eight ‘Special Scene’ modes; Portrait, Night Snapshot, Kids & Pets, Indoor, Foliage, Snow, Beach, and Fireworks, and a Movie mode.

Canon released the Powershot A460 in 2007, the same year Apple launched the first iPhone with a 2 megapixel camera. By 2010, Apple’s iPhone 4G featured a 5 megapixel camera, and it wasn’t long before compact digital cameras such as this Canon Powershot would largely be replaced by smartphones for amateur photographers.
