Description
Money box (the 'Bull Dog Bank'), made of cast iron, shaped like a bulldog. Dated 1880. The head and neck of the bulldog move independently from the torso. The lower jaw is hinged at the base and flaps. The dog is sitting on his hind legs in a crouched position. The tail is also independent of the body and swivels from side to side. The dog is coloured black, red and gold. The mechanism to open the mouth to place a coin into the money box is controlled by the tail of the dog.
