Description
Vol.7, no.2 (March-April 1977). Includes article by B. E. Carpenter, R. W. Doran and K. Hopper: Non-recursive recursion, p.263-270.
"To write successful software requires a great deal of know-how, and far too little of this is at present available in written form, which results in a duplication of inventive effort. Other journals do not cater well for the software writer and SOFTWARE is intended to fill this need; the emphasis is on conveying the results of practical experience for the benefit of the computing community.
Both 'systems' software and 'applications' software, for use in batch, multi-access, interactive and real-time environments are included. Articles cover software design and implementation, case studies which describe the evolution of systems and the thinking behind them, and critical appraisals of software systems. Well-tried techniques that are not documented are included in articles of a tutorial nature. Although the emphasis is on practical experience, articles of a theoretical or mathematical nature will be included when it is felt that an understanding of theory will lead to better practical systems.
Articles may range in length from a short note (perhaps half a page) to the length required to give a full treatment of a substantial piece of software (say 40 pages). SOFTWARE should appeal to all who design, implement or maintain software, who manage software projects, or who want to learn more about software." -- Aims and scope, printed inside front cover.
