Description
National aviation record for the first solo direct flight in a single-engined (piston) aircraft from Auckland to Sydney and back again. Completed between 9-10 September, 1978 with total elapsed time of 26 hours and 58 minutes in a Fletcher FU24-950. Average speed 99.64 Kts. Signed by the President and Secretary. This flight was carried out for the 50th anniversary of Sir Charles Kingsford Smith's Tasman crossing in the Southern Cross on the 11th of September, 1928 from Sydney to Christchurch.
