The model for the figure is the wife of artist., Stanley Davis who was the Supervising Artist of the New Zealand Railways Outdoor Advertising Branch.
This poster was advertising the annual carnival two years after the 1931 Napier Earthquake, and advertises the town as an attractive seaside resort.
