Description
Control Board. Large rectangular panel with a diagonally angled edge on the right side. The panel is horizontal, with metal framing the edges. Attached with screws all around the edge. The panel has a Perspex covering. There are five hinges along the top edge which have been painted cream at the top and bare metal below. There is a long handle along the left side underneath the panel, and extensive wiring on the underside of the panel.

This control board was used in conjunction with the control panel (2019.135.1). Each numbered entrance/exit corresponds with the numbers on the control panel. The bulbs on the control board would light up in red or green to indicate which doors were locked and what doors were open.

The control board is grey in colour and shows a map of the prison with the various areas labelled. The buildings are mostly white in colour. The board has a title at the top of the panel which reads “SALLY PORTS GATES & ALARMS” in black. On the far left of the panel is a small square building, which is labelled “BOILER HOUSE” with various bulbs, indicating the entrances/exits to the building. Each door is assigned a number and two indicator bulbs, one green and one red. Below this are two additional indicator bulbs with handwritten signs, “Education/ CoRR.” and “12 A2”. To the right of this is a building titled “LOWER LEVEL”. This has various rooms and entrances. The text is red for Sally Ports and blue for gates. The Sally Ports have two doors per entrance, and the gates have one. To the right of this building is a larger complex, with the “ENTRY” to the far right of the panel. There are various rooms listed, including “WORKSHOP”, “GYMNASIUM”, “LIBRARY”, “CHAPEL”, “VISITING”, “RECEPTION”, “HOSPITAL”, “DETENTION”, “STANDARD CELL 1”. Underneath the entry portion of the building is “TUNNEL ALARMS / EAST TUNNEL / NORTH TUNNEL / SOUTH TUNNEL / WEST TUNNEL / EQUIPMENT ROOM”. There are two indicator bulbs to the left of each of the tunnels.
