Description
Surfboard with "Woolight" technology, which has been ridden by its maker Paul Barron.
On the top side of the surfboard (deck), the surface design of the board is cream with a blue circular abstract pattern. The board has a mottled appearance, with light spots of brown and grey throughout – this is the undyed wool. Around the edge of the entire board (rail) is a painted black rim. On the left side of the board a quarter of the way down from the nose is a “BARRON” logo with black rimmed white text. On the right side of the board near the centre are two logos. The top logo is a gold circle with black text inside which reads “PAMU / NATURALLY / NEW ZEALAND”. Directly below is a second logo which reads “ZQ / PREMIUM WOOL” in teal. On the left side of the board near the centre is a black coloured sheep’s head, which is the Woolight logo. At the tail of the board is a small metal piece, which is a leash plug for attaching the leash to the board.
The underside of the board has a similar mottled appearance, but without the blue design. It has the “BARRON” logo a quarter of the way down on the left. There are three fin boxes at the base of the board, one in the centre and two either side at a diagonal angle. These are black and grey. Above this in the centre of the board, there is some horizontal text written in blue permanent marker which reads “– BARRON – / TEST 20/2/19”. On the right side of the board near the centre are two logos. The top logo is a gold circle with black text inside which reads “PAMU / NATURALLY / NEW ZEALAND”. Directly below is a second logo which reads “ZQ / PREMIUM WOOL” in teal. On the left side of the board near the centre is a black coloured sheep’s head Woolight logo.

Brief History
Woolight surfboards were invented in New Zealand by Paul Barron. The innovation of these boards is in the use of wool fibre, which replaces the traditional fibreglass layer used in surfboards. Strong wool is utilised - this is often rinsed once and contains other organic fibres which can be seen in the surfaces of the finished boards.
This innovation had its beginnings in 2006 and since then the Woolight surfboards have been tested, shaped and refined. It is a unique example of innovation with a practical - and fun - application.
