Description
Salmon's papers relating to an enquiry into the feasibility to have a helicopter service specifically for the Auckland region set up for emergency services. This was proposed to be in addition to the already established RNZAF and Surf Life Saving services. A committee was established in July 1978 by the Auckland Regional Authority to determine feasibility and engage potential stakeholders to contribute to cost sharing and use of this service. The Helicopter Committee comprised of Salmon (Convenor), J. R. Firth, J. L. King and A. M. McCulloch. These papers contain feasibility and requirement reports, research into existing services overseas, committee papers, proposals by aviation industry suppliers and correspondence between the parties engaged. Contributors to these papers are listed in the secondary production details.
