Brief History
Work on the recording of sound in stereo, allowing sound to be separated into two signals during recording and then played back from two speakers to provide a more natural listening experience, began in the 1930s with Alan Blumlein, a senior sound engineer at EMI’s Central Research Laboratories.
This 1970s Akai tape recorder recorded sound on two channels onto audio cassette tapes.
