Description
Black and white original photographic print of a Blackburn B-5 Baffin Biplane of the Royal New Zealand Airforce Territorial Squadron parked on grass. View is from front, includes group of people partially visible behind port side wings.

From 1937 29 Blackburn Baffin's were used to equip Territorial Squadrons in Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland. Originally the Baffin's were brought on charge (BOC) at Hobsonville in 1937 - 1939.

On the outbreak of war in 1939, the Baffin's were utilised as trainers. However, with the threat of surface raids in New Zealand, they were returned to active service until 1941. In 1941 the Baffin's were replaced by Lockheed Hudson's and broken up at Rongotai in 1941.
