Description
Brown leather flight helmet. On each side of helmet are two round compartments with a metal zip. Protruding from each compartment is a metal tube with rubber encasing, originally connecting to the Gosport tube. Each compartment holds a metal plate and foam casing. Attached to the bottom of the left side of the helmet is a thin brown leather strap. Attached to the bottom of the right side of the helmet is a metal buckle with leather attachments. The interior of the helmet is cased in fabric. Two circular padded areas protrude to cover the wearer's ears. Inside is a maker's label, printed text reads "R. N. Z. A. F. / SIZE / [ILLEGIBLE SERIAL NUMBER]". Stamped on this label is "78" and handwritten in black ink on the label is "Y.G.BROWN". At the rear of the exterior is a metal buckle with a brown leather strap.
