This Gyroplane was homebuilt by Brian Heape in the basement of his family home in Whangarei. The aircraft was powered by a V.W.1600 engine that was then bored out to 2000 cc. With Heape constructing the rotor blades himself, and John Lee engineering the rotor head, and electrical work was carried out by Barry Isles Electrical.
