Description
A small cardboard box with integrated lid. Handwritten the on lid of box in pen is "Horizon / Bifocals. / 1992". Inside the box are five small glass containers with a white plastic lid. Each contains a soft bifocal lens in clear solution. Each container has a small sticker on the front with handwritten text relating to the bifocal inside - one reads “8.10 14/13 / +3.50 +2.75A / ½ mm”.
These are Bifocal soft contact lenses, a product of the Bifocal Contact Lens Project undertaken by Hirstlens in the early 90s. This project was partially funded by FORST. The DISR (Department of Scientific and Industrial Research) was also a partner in the project due to their expertise in precision, engineering and machine language software.
